Here, J.A. Long demolished an old, aluminum screen enclosure and added 400 square feet of heated and cooled living space to the home. As you can see in the pictures below, there are no step-downs or transitions from the existing structure to the new addition. The wood flooring is carried from the existing structure seamlessly into the new addition.

Also, like many older homes, this home was built with eight-foot ceilings. J.A. Long was able to update the look and feel by building 12-foot vaulted ceilings and adding oversized windows. J.A. Long also over-framed the existing roof to ensure that the new roof lines and higher ceilings conformed to the existing structure. The result: a warm and inviting den/family room featuring 12-foot. vaulted ceilings, oversized windows, crown molding, a fireplace with a brick hearth, custom bench seats, and exposed brick per the owner’s request.
